Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Acupuncture is the insertion of fine pins into points, along pathways called meridians which trace the surface of the body. An acupuncture needle is NOT like a hypodermic needle. It is a thin, fine pin with no hole like a syringe needle.  Acupuncture promotes blood flow and the circulation of qi (energy) in the body. Acupuncture causes your brain waves to relax, allowing the release of endorphins, your body’s natural painkiller. Depending on the severity and duration of your pain/condition an acupuncturist will determine the length of each of your treatments. How your body responds to treatments determines the amount of visits you will need to receive. Usually a course of treatment is between 6 to 10 visits. Contrary to your fears, acupuncture is relaxing. Often, recipients doze or report falling asleep during a treatment. Acupuncture is a safe and reliable. There are no harmful side effects to treatment.
